TRAVEL: EXPLORING THE WORLD
AND INNER TRAVEL
As a child, I was already dreaming of setting off on adventures to explore distant horizons that were bound to be magnificent and fascinating.
So, as soon as I could, I started traveling regularly, in search of the thrill of freedom that came with each new escapade.
With my little backpack, a plane ticket in my pocket and stars in my eyes...
I've been on more than 100 adventures, including two round-the-world trips.
In 35 years, I've visited around forty countries and territories, always in search of wide-open spaces, colors, scents and freedom!
Photography was an obvious choice: an essential complement to my travels.
I then became a "professional" and decided to regularly carry along heavy photographic equipments.
People often say to me: "How lucky you are to be able to travel like this!” But there's a price to be paid... ... and that the other side of the coin is made up of many sacrifices: family, professional, financial...
Unfortunately, I don't travel much these days, as my last few far-flung adventures often ended in chronic pain and fatigue (fibromyalgia).
Anyway, I'll be going again soon, I promise!...
because the most important thing for me is to never give up on my dreams.

I visited all 7 emirates, including, of course, the famous Dubai and Abu Dhabi where new skyscrapers bloom every morning...
In the end, I much preferred the vastness and silence of the deserts.

Australia was a major stop on my first around-the-world trip.
An exceptional journey covering 53,000 km, probably my most comprehensive trip to date and certainly the most emotionally charged: freedom, colors, scents, unique moments, etc... pure joy!
Cyprus - So much light! - October 1996.
Returning from my around-the-world trip, I felt confined in my daily life; this little detour to Cyprus was very welcome!

It was my first real big trip: 9,000 km by bus, conquering the West from New York to Los Angeles!
A "rough" journey often spent sleeping on overnight buses and sometimes even outdoors!

The end of my journey of 9,000 km across North America.
This final stage was marked by a sense of absolute freedom:
go where you want, do what you feel like, have no constraints, need nothing...
It was here, in California, that for the first time in my life, I felt the "Good Vibrations" ... a kind of music in my head.
In the end, freedom is about owning little and going your own way.
It's worth noting that all these travels are done in an "adventure" and exploratory mode:
with a plane ticket in hand, I always manage to get around using local means,
sometimes by renting a car, motorcycle, or bicycle for more autonomy.
Moreover, not being "wealthy," it goes without saying that accommodation is of the "low-cost" type:
youth hostels, camping, nights in buses or cars.
The "luxury" is occasionally treating myself to a night with locals or in run-down hotels.
1975
Sedan - Ardennes - September 1975.
Even back then...
an insatiable thirst for discovery and adventure, with a head full of dreams and eyes set on distant horizons.
A few pedal strokes... and the gardens, rivers, and Ardennes forests were already within my reach.
(Well... except when my "bell-bottom" jeans got caught in the chain of my bike!)
